My Makeup Routine

Step 1: Moisturize
Always moisturize your face before butting makeup on. This brand is a super one that I picked up from Sephora. It does run a bit on the pricey side, but it lasts impossibly long.

Step 2: Concealer
I find this concealer to be perfect for hiding under-eye circles and spots. It is inexpensive (I got it from Walmart), and lasts a long time. I've also seen it used to cover up tattoos.

Step 3: BB Cream
I recently discovered BB Creams, and I have to say that the Maybelline ones are my fav. I find foundation very heavy, and if you have skin that doesn't breakout often, and is pretty evenly coloured, this is perfect. It's light enough that it feels like a moisturizer, but heavy enough that it smooths your complexion.

Step 4: Spray
One spritz of this stuff and your makeup won't be going anywhere.

Step 5: Powder
This is where I powder my face. I use a powder brush and just lightly dust it everywhere.

Step 6: Contour and Blend
Contour your face with your favourite products and blend it all together. I use e.l.f Gotta go Blush and Yves Rocher Bronzer.

Step 7: Blush
Apply your favourite blush. I use Hard Candy Glow all the way. It is ombre and allows for you to pick the rosiness of your cheeks.

8: Eyes
Apply your eye makeup as you usually do. I simply use some neutrals from the NAKED3 palette and then use a little bit of Covergirl mascara on my lashes.

9:Lips
Apply your lip product. I just put on a little bit of Sugar Rose Lip Treatment, because I don't really like the feel of heavy lipsticks.

10: Spray
Spray your finished look and away you go.

Makeup Haul

So I just got back from Target in the United States. I was so excited because they were having a sale for e.l.f cosmetics. I have never found this brand in Canada and I was so happy to get some. Here is my hair of makeup from this shopping trip.

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream
This was the most expensive of the makeup items I bought, and it was only about $8. This one was recommended to me by a friend, and I absolutely love it. I don't like to wear heavy foundation, so this is a great alternative for me.

e.l.f High Definition Powder
To be completely honest, so far I'm not wowed by this product. It's fine and all, but it was more the fact that I needed a setting powder. It is very messy so I recommend taking that into consideration.

e.l.f Blush Gotta Glow

This product is advertised as a blush, but I've found it to be a great highlighter. The colour is very light and easy to blend.

e.l.f Makeup Mist and Set
I'm still a little on the fence about this product, but I've only heard good things. I have been using it to wet my brushes before applying eyeshadow, and the the makeup stays on even longer.

e.l.f Powder Brush

I much prefer using this brush to apply the High Definition Powder. The brush is light and very easy to use. It doesn't shed which I love.

e.l.f Concealer Brush
I adore this brush. Before I had it, I was just using my fingers to blend in my concealer. This brush is the perfect size for right under my eyes, and I use it every day.

e.l.f Retractable Kabuki Brush
This brush is a lifesaver. I have it in my purse to use for touch-ups. The bristles are very well protected, both by the retractable part and the lid, so I don't need to worry about it get mangled in my bag.

4 Things every Teenager Needs

There's a few things in this world that I think every high school student needs. Some of these are simply to help you relax, while others are more to keep you organized. Here is my list of must-haves for every teenager.

1. Journal
I cannot tell you how useful it is to have a journal. You don't need to write in it everyday, but it does come in handy. Whether it's to vent about your annoying lap partner or jot down some ideas about an upcoming halloween party, journals to come in handy. If you are the type of person who likes to write everyday, or wants to make it a habit, I recommend setting yourself a reminder on your phone.

2. Colouring Book
Okay, so you probably think I'm insane for recommending this, but stay with me for a second. These are so useful. I'm one of those people that constantly needs to be doing something with my hands, and I use this all the time while I'm watching TV. You can also buy ones that have specific designs to help improve stress and focus. They sell some great ones at INDIGO, but you can also print many designs off the internet. Just search "colouring books for adults".

3. A Workout
Find a workout that works for you. I recommend Blogilates, as she has super easy to follow videos and she's very encouraging. Start with the Blogilates beginner's calendar, which is great way to get started with Pop Pilates. I also highly recommend the 30-day ab challenge. She is a super easy to follow workout instructor.

4. A Portable Charger
I'm the type of person who is on my phone all day. So by the time after-school rolls around, my battery is gone. Problem, as I have many after school activities. I charge my portable charger, and keep it in my bag, because I hate being stuck at school after practice because I can't call my ride. I recommend the TP-Link portable chargers, because they hold a lot of power and last a very long time.

LUSH HAUL

I just got back from the Lush in Ottawa, and I purchased quite a few odds and ends. Here is my little list of what I bought.

Sex Bomb
This is a very floral smelling bath bomb. I haven't gotten around to using it yet, but it smells wonderful. The lady at the store was very determined to have me buy this, so I splurged.

Pop in the Bath
I bought this bubble bar on a whim. I've just used half for a bath, and it created a lot of bubbles. It also doesn't have a very pronounced scent, so it's a good one to use with another bath bomb.

Creamy Candy Bubble Bar
I'm not the biggest fan of the smell of this one. I find it very sweet and bubble gum like. This is my sister's favourite so I decided that it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

Don't Look at Me Fresh Face Mask
This is the first of Lush's Fresh Face Masks that I've tried. I was told that it cleanses and exfoliates, both of which are sadly missing from my normal skincare routine. The mask smells like lemon and I really enjoy how it feels on my face. I am planning on keeping the container to try to make my own face masks, as they are rather expensive and only last three weeks or so.

Honey I Washed my Hair Shampoo Bar

This shampoo bar idea is brilliant. It comes in a little metal tin, that I'm certain you could reuse when you go back to buy more. It's not like a lot of other lush products that only last a little while, this one lasts until it's gone, which can take months. This one smells like maple and honey, and works wonders on my hair.

American Cream Hair Conditioner
This one smells like a milkshake for your hair. It smooths, it shines and I really do love it.

HOW TO: BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING

It's that time of year again. We've got to get ready to go back to school. Whether you're going into your first year of secondary school, or you're on your way back to Uni, this list is something everyone should read.

1. Make a List
Make a list of everything you'll need. This includes clothes, binders, pencil and even locker decorations.

2. Plan a Trip
Plan a shopping trip with some of your friends. You'll find that you enjoy thinking of the dreaded education subject when you're distracted by shopping with your friends.

3. Clean out your Wardrobe
Go through everything. See what you need to buy, what you've already got two of and what does not fit anymore. Your dresser drawers will thank you when they're no longer bursting at the seams.

Now mentally prepare yourself and set your alarms, because...
SCHOOL IS COMING

LOVE, TANYA

I went out today and bought LOVE, TANYA by Tanya Burr. It is the first of the youtube books that I've read, and I was pleasantly surprised.
The book is filled with her stories, tips and recipes. I will say that I'm not sure if I'll use the fill-it-out-yourself sections, but the skincare and makeup tips are awesome.
I actually went out and bought the LUSH Catastrophe face mask because she recommend it. (I always use skincare tips, as my chin continues to be the only part of my face that breaks out). Her advice on exfoliating and her makeup application routine has really come in handy.
I also adored the sections explaining her relationship with Jim, and the parts about their experiences in Thailand.
I strongly recommend this book, I actually used post-it's to mark the sections that I enjoyed the best.

Forever Nut

Forever Nut by DAVIDsTEA
I cannot begin to explain how much I love this tea. It is a wonderful tea for someone who doesn't like strong teas. It's the perfect mix of almonds, apples and cinnamon, with some beet root for added flavour. It also makes a great iced tea.
